A TradingView webhook is an HTTPS request TradingView sends the instant an alert condition is met. The alert carries your message; the webhook URL decides where that message lands. On its own it does nothing. Something on the other end has to read it and place the trade.
trade2sync is that other end, a TradingView trade copier that issues you a URL, parses the alert text into a structured order, and executes it across your connected broker accounts under your own lot sizing and risk rules.
The DIY route works right up until the VPS reboots. A TradingView copier should not need a server of your own. Here is what each side actually asks of you.
Copy trades from TradingView to MT5, MT4 or cTrader with no download, no deployment and no Pine Script changes. If your alert already fires, it is ready to trade.
In your trade2sync workspace, create a webhook and copy the URL it issues. Optionally lock it with Basic auth, a header key, or an HMAC-SHA256 signature. Your choice at creation time.
Open your alert, tick Webhook URL, paste. Put the signal in the message box. Plain text like BUY XAUUSD @ 2350 SL 2345 TP 2360 is a complete, valid signal on its own.
Lot size, risk %, SL/TP handling, trailing and filters apply per webhook. From then on every alert executes automatically across your accounts, day or night.
The same URL accepts TradingView alerts, a Zapier step, an n8n node or your own strategy server. Any system that can make an HTTPS POST can trade through it.

Four authentication modes: none, Basic, a fixed X-Webhook-Key header, or an HMAC-SHA256 signature. The subscriber picks one when the webhook is created.
{"status": "accepted"}Every response is JSON. Only 429 and 503 are worth retrying. A 401 or 404 returns the same answer every time and needs a configuration fix, not a retry loop.
200 means delivered, not executed
The API answers immediately and processes afterwards, so a signal never waits on a broker. A duplicate, a stale entry or text the parser can't resolve will still stop after a 200. Your dashboard shows exactly which step it stopped at.
The webhook is a general signal inlet. TradingView is the most common source, not the only one.
Send TradingView alerts to MetaTrader from Pine Script strategies, indicator conditions, price and drawing alerts. Plain text in the message box is enough.

Fixed lots, risk percentage or fixed-money stop loss. The same alert sizes differently on a $2k account and a $200k prop account.
Multiple take-profits, partial closes, and stop handling applied consistently whether or not the alert spelled them out.
Trail by pips or cascade across TP levels. Move to breakeven automatically on pips, money, R:R or a TP hit.

Trade only your sessions, only your instruments. Filters run per webhook, so one strategy's rules never leak into another's.

Automated entries go wrong in a small number of well-known ways. Each one has a specific answer, documented rather than assumed.
A retry carrying the same message_id is accepted and then filtered, so a timeout that resends never opens a second position at double the intended risk.
Mistyped an entry? Resend the same id with edit_count raised by one and the live signal updates instead of duplicating.
A new entry timestamped more than 24 hours ago is history, not a trade, and is skipped. Closes and modifications are never age-limited.
A live URL fires real trades on the first request. Ask the team for a demo webhook that behaves identically but touches no funded account.
Anyone holding it can send signals. Regenerating a webhook issues a new URL and invalidates the old one immediately.
HMAC-SHA256 over the raw body in an X-Signature header, the only mode that proves the payload was not altered in transit.
